This boho-inspired living room was designed for a hiker and trail guide. The beautiful cottage receives sunlight for most of the day, so we decided to keep the theme warm and natural, based upon the client’s love for nature. The earthy hues of the wooden furniture and the green and rust cushions pair marvelously together. The rug was a gift from the client’s grandmother, and hence we covered the mattresses on the two sofas with fabric that matches the color of the rug. The intricate valances on the two windows were created using an old saree the client was planning to discard. We created the wall-decor using the pallu of the saree to utilize its coordinating contrast. This room holds sentimental value for the client by incorporating pieces of their self in form of the rug and the saree in the decor. The plant pots and vases are the client’s own, and work beautifully with the nature theme of the room. The longer couch with the green cushions is a daybed, and this living room converts into a compact but comfortable bedroom when there are guests.
For the record, pictures do not do enough justice to this room. A cool rainy day, a cup of hot chai, a good book, and one can enjoy the heavenly feeling of this space.
